Delhi Capitals is a franchise cricket team based in Delhi, India, that competes in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The team was founded in 2008 as Delhi Daredevils and was later rebranded as Delhi Capitals in 2018.
The franchise has had several ups and downs in its IPL journey. In the early years, Delhi Daredevils performed well, finishing at the top of the table in 2009 and reaching the playoffs in 2008, 2009, and 2012. However, the team struggled for consistency in the following years and failed to qualify for the playoffs from 2013 to 2018.
After rebranding as Delhi Capitals in 2018, the team saw significant improvement. In the 2019 season, they reached the playoffs for the first time in seven years. In 2020, under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer and coach Ricky Ponting, Delhi Capitals reached their first-ever IPL final but lost to Mumbai Indians.
